1. What are mangosteens?
Mangosteens are an exotic fruit — and probably the best tasting fruit in the world. The taste is sweet and a little tangy, a mix between pear and strawberry. It has also been referred to as a combination of plum, lychee and coconut. The fruit is sectional, like a tangerine, and a
littler smaller than a tennis ball, with a hard purple shell, and a green leafy stem. The number of stems is always equal to the number of fruit sections.
2. Where are mangosteens from?
They are native to Malaysia but now can be found in China, Thailand,
Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
3. What are the ingredients in Adam’s 100% Mangosteen Juice With Extra Xanthones?
Mangosteen fruit, including the white meat, the pit and a portion of the inner rind. In addition, we take the outer rind, dry it, crush it into a powder and add it to the juice.
4. Is Adam's 100% Mangosteen Juice With Extra Xanthones pastuerized?
Yes. The juice is pasteurized in an FDA approved facility. They adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Point regulations.
5. Where can I buy fresh mangosteens?
The US and Thai governments have recently come to an agreement to allow irradiated mangosteens into the US. We are working with the sole importer to determine whether the irradiation adversely affects the taste or texture. In addition, there will be fresh mangosteens coming from Puerto Rico next year (without irradiation). If you live in Hawaii,
you can order from Richard Johnson, at Onomea Orchards, johnsons@hawaii.rr.com. Please tell them Adam sent you.
6. How is Adam’s 100% mangosteen juice different from the competitors (Xango™, Thaigo™, Vemma™, Mangoxan®)
Like the name says, Adam’s 100% is pure mangosteen juice. The others have
only 20-40% mangosteen juice, the rest is filler. In addition, while I may
be biased, I think my juice tastes way better than the rest.
7. Why is Adam’s 100% less expensive that its competitors?
This business was borne out of a passion, not out of greed. Simply put, my profit margins are much lower than the competitors. Mangosteens have been a passion of mine for over fifteen years.
8. Why is Adam’s 100% so expensive?
Mangosteens are a rare and precious fruit. They take about a decade to grow to maturity, and only fruit once or twice per year. There are about 10 pounds of fruit in each 32 oz bottle.
9. What are the health benefits of mangosteens?
There are about 20-30 medical papers published on PubMed (PubMed is a
service of the US National Library of Medicine that includes over 15 million
citations from life science journals).
However, none of these
involve clinical trials (tests involving humans). To date, all of the
studies I have seen have either been on rats or in petri dishes. It is,
however, clear from these papers that the fruit and rind have long been used
in South East Asia to address a variety of intestinal and dietary maladies.
10. Where does the juice come from?
Adam's 100% Mangosteen Juice With Extra Xanthones is sourced in Indonesia and Thailand.
11. Is Adam's 100% Mangosteen Juice With Extra Xanthones organic?
The mangosteens used in our products are certified by the Thai Government as organic, but we have not yet submitted our product to the US Goverment for certification.
12. What is the recommended dosage?
With regard to dosage, as you may know there are no clinical studies on mangosteen juice nor has our juice (or any of the 15 or so mangosteen juices on the market) been tested by the US Food and Drug Administration. Therefore, we cannot make any claim regarding the ability of the juice to cure, treat or diagnose any disease, nor can we make a recommendation on dosage. That said, we provide a nutritional breakdown based on 1 oz., and we have surveyed the 15 or mangosteen juices on the market and they all recommend between 1-3 oz/day.
