Fresh Mangosteens
In October 2007, the US Department of Agriculture and the Government of Thailand came to an agreement to allow the import of fresh mangosteens, provided they are first irradiated in a Thai facility. The first mangosteens subject to these regulations will begin to arrive in April 2008. We are concerned about the effect of the irradiation on the taste and texture of the mangosteen and are currently conducting tests.
